Morocco 2023-2024 Day 22 (1/9/2024) - Fes - Roman Ruins
A couple of hours drive outside Fes is the Roman Ruins at Volubilis. A great example of the Roman presence in North Africa. The drive out to the site winds through farm lands and beautiful Countryside.
Stop off at a roadside vendor to check out their wares.
Berber hat on Sarah. The native people of Morocco were Berber before the Arab influx.
They believe in using every inch of capacity on their trucks

It is not uncommon to see Huge Stork's nests at the top of telephone and power poles

The storks even make nests at the top of the ruins
Many of the columns were plundered by former kings and sultans in Morocco to adorn their palaces
Time for contemplation
There are many tile floors that are still intact. This one with a man on a horse backwords led them to titke the house the "House of the Acrobat"

After our visit to the ruins we made a stop off to take a dip in the mineral springs ay Moulay Jacoub
They did not allow any photography inside.
Loved the stairs going up through the nearby town
Heading back through the gates into Fes
