Another beautiful suite, with a killer view
We had a huge balcony overlooking the bay
The sitting room had a comfortable seating area where we sat around in the evening
The Courtyard, off the lobby. We would cross this to get to the restaurant for breakfast
There were pictures all around the courtyard with famous people that frequented the hotel including Jacques Cousteau, Rex Harrison, Francis Ford Coppola, Albert Broccoli (James Bond Producer), Rock Hudson, Tom Hiddleston, and many more.
Typical starters before omelets or whatever you would like
Off on another Hike
The old City wall
More narrow streets
Our destination this morning, The Americal Legation Museum. Many people do not know that Morocco was the first country to recognize the United States after we declared Independance. and this building was the first building that was owned by the U.S. outside the United States as it became the first Consulate in 1777, A gift from the Sultan that ruled the country at the time.
It became the American Legation and remained so from 1821-2021. The embassy now resides in Rabat, the Capital of Morocco
This building has hosted many U.S. Presidents Including Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon, Carter, Johnson and Obama.

From here we went on to a historic Jewish Synagogue

Covering all our bases the next stop was St. Andrews Anglican Church
The caretaker for the church was explaining about some of the famous people buried here at St. Andrews including Paul Bowles, afmous for saving Moroccan tradional music and his girlfriend Gloria Kirby
In the nearby Grand Hotel we visited a room that was occupied by Henri Matisse, the painting on the wall (was said to be inspired by the view out his window below) and another by the view out a second window. The caretaker at St Andrews told us to visit the hotel and said it was open to the public, but when we arrived that room was being remodled. The manager, not wanting us to be disappointed, sent one of the bellmen to show us the room.
Although the trees have grown up and many buildings added, you can see where he got his inspiration
Walking back along the waterfront before the hike back up to the hotel
Zak was looking for a book, but when we looked into this book store we thought how would you ever find it?
Back in our room for a nightcap before the kids headed off to their room.
LONG DAY!
