Morocco 2023-2024 Day 18 (1/5/2024) - Ouzoud Falls
After a day of rest we are ready to take on the hike to the bottom of the falls. First off to breakfast, then will wait a little while til the weather clears a little. We have a little drizzle this morning, but should completely clear up by about 10:00 AM
Typical Breakfast spread, diced fruits, breads, tomatoes & cheese, olives, and White Harira (a soup made from Semolina Wheat), followed by an Omelet
Even the Elevators in the hotel were elaborately decorated
Inside of Elevator
Looked out our window and the Macaque Monkeys were climbind up onto the patio of the hotel
These are Barbary Macaques
Over to the pool for a drink
After a day of rest we are ready to take on a hike to the falls.
Our local tour guide that took Zak & Sarah around the previous day joined us again
On the way down the Macques are looking for a handout. For a few cents, the locals provide you with green beans to feed them, which they seem to love.
They really seem to Love Sarah
The falls as we are headed down the trail
The way down is pretty steep
Full view of the falls or as they refer to them "Cascades"
There are restaurants and businesses along the trail on the way to the bottom of the falls
We joked about this being their answer to Niagara's Maid of the Mist
View from the restaurant where we stopped for refrehsments
Our tour guide was alovely man, many of these people survive on about the equivalent of less than $100 per month so are grateful when they receive money for giving a tour.
Back at the hotel, Ceciel and Sarah said the long dark hallways reminded them of "The Shining"
The food was so good the previous evening we rturned to teh same restaurant Chez Mounir. They took the embers from the fireplace to put in their grill to grill the meat.
Posing with the owner of the restaurant. On Google and Trip Advisor this place got all 5's
