Morocco 2023-2024 Day 14 (1/1/2024) - Ouarzazate and The Gorges

New Years Day and a lot of things are closed, so we decided to see some of the countryside and visit one of the three Gorges outside of Ourzazate (pronounced War-za-zate).

When they load a trruck with hay they really load it.

A lot of the villages here blend right in with the color of the land.

Many of the buildings are build right into the side of the mountains

They build right up to the edge of the Gorge

The Gorge was cut by this tranquil stream

Did someone say winding road?

On our way back we stopped to see the Ourzazate Solar station the world's largest concentrated solar power plant.  There are 500,000 mirrors that concentrate the sun's energy on a tower, this creates super heated stem inside the tower which powers generators to produce electricity. At 510 Megawatts it makes it the worlds largest concentrated solar plant.

Light from the sun reflected off the mirrors hitting the tower.

Back to the hotel for a cocktail and an evening of relaxation before dinner.
