Oahu Day 1

 Our first day of touring Oahu with Joseph started with heading up to Wahiawa to the Dole Plantation.
We started with a tour around the Plantation on the Pineapple Express, a small train that takes a 8 mile route around the plantation. 


The tour shows a sampling of many various fruits that are grown on this and other plantations that Dole owns.

After the train Tour we headed off to the giant Pineapple Maze,  Cecile stayed around the middle area while Joseph and I headed off to find the hidden markers around the maze.


Around the maze which is over an acre, there are 7 Hidden signs, each tells the history and facts about each of the 7 Primary Hawaiian Islands. 




After leaving the plantation we headed to the North Shore and had planned to visit the Waimea Valley, but they have started closing on Mondays.  There are so many beautiful beaches along the North Shore, so we made a few stops along the way.








We finished off the day ay one of our favorite restaurants on the North Shore, The Beach House in Haleiwa

  17 Sept 2023 headed for Hawaii to visit our Grandson Joseph, who just reenlisted in the Navy. He has been there three years and has seen very little of the island.  At the airport at 5;00 am , flew from Knoxville to Atlanta for a nine hour non-stop flight from Atlanta to Honolulu.  Fortunately we got First Class tickets so flying in comfort. As soon as we were on board they delivered Mimosas   Real Food in First Class When we arrived at the rental car agency, they told us that the Toyota Rav 4 we reserved was not available so they gave us a free upgrade a BMW X3, not bad for an upgrade. Finally got to Joseph at his apartment.  Tomorrow will start the adventures. Hawaii Trip Day 1

Morocco 2023-2024 Day 1 (12/19/23) Casablanca

We arrived in Casablanca, after heading through customs etc. Zak was there to meet us along with his mother (a nice surprise).  Sami and his Grandmother headed back to Essaouira where she lives and the four of us (Zak, Sarah, Cecile and I) headed off to start exploring Casablanca. First Stop was to Check in at the Hyatt Regancy.   Cecile and Sarah thought we should take this car, a Maybach, but I think it would be alittle out of our price range. Shops along the Main thoroughfare below our room. Looking out over the city from our hotel room The Harbor The Hassan II Mosque from our Hotel Room. The Largest Mosque in Africa with a Minorette standing 210 Meters (682.5 Feet) tall. The Bears were happy to take a break from travelling. We had a late lunch Early Dinner at the Dar El Kaiu Restaurant. tucked away in the shopping medina, but like you were stepping into another world.  The architecture was incredible.  This was a Jewish Synagogue in the 1800's, what an incredible building. Autumn Colors in the Smokies

 Time for the color change in the Smokies, we took a morning drive through the Cade's Cove Scenic Loop in the Smoky Mountains National Park only about an hour and a half from the house. Saw four bears but with all the people trying to take pictures, we passed without getting any pictures.  We were however able to capture some of the beautiful colors.
