Kauai is Changing

It used to be that Kauai was the quiet laid back island, but that is changing rapidly. Partly because the shift in tourism after the fires in Maui. but there are more tourists here now. Almost everything requires a reservation now.  Even visiting the Lighthouse or going to the beach in Ha'ena they require a reservation. We used to visit the Koloa Rum Company, but you have to have a reservation now for tasting.

Took a drive up the coast and stopped at the lookout on the Kapa'a Bike Path

From October through early April this is a good place to see Whales, especially Humpback Whales

Looking up the coast from the Kilauea Lighthouse

The beach across the cove from the Kilauea Lighthouse is called Secret Beach.  Pretty much the only folks that visit it are locals, the entrance is hidden in a residential neighborhood, then you have to walk about a mile along some slippery muddy paths to get down to the beach.
