7-16-2020 Rapid City
Doing a little more exploring around Rapid City. In the hills outside of town is a Beautiful Church, which is a replica of a 800 year old church in Norway (Lutheran). The church "The Chapel in the Hills" was built in 1968 and is still active. From what the Volunteer told us, many visiting pastors carry on services here. Many come for a vacation and stay in the church's minister's quarters, at no cost to them, effectively giving then a free vacation. From there we went downtown and had a late lunch, early dinner at the Firehouse Brewery and Winery. Cecile did some wine tasting, then we took a walk around downtown. They have a "Presidential Walk" which includes statues of all the presidents on corners throughout the downtown area. They are laid out so as to give no preference to any party of certain presidents. We walked around a couple of blocks and saw a dozen or so.
