2-28-2022 St Kitts (St Kitts & Nevis)
We arrived this morning in St. Kitts, after breakfast we started with a morning local tour and visited the Fairview Greathouse, a classic Plantation House and Botanical Garden. In the afternoon we took a ride on the Scenic St Kitts Railway. Until 2006 St Kitts was one of the biggest producers of Cane Sugar, but with the production of sugar beet pushing the price down it was no longer sustainable to produce cane here. The primary sources of income for the island now is tourism and Education. There are five Universities on the island including two medical schools and a veterinary school.

The mongoose was introduced to St. Kitts to control the rats in the sugar fields, like they did in Hawaii.
But, like Hawaii, no one told them that the Mongoose hunts in the daytime and rats are nocturnal. The mongoose, rats and monkeys go after the egrets babies and eggs in their nests, so now the egrets have
adapted by nesting in these trees that have long spiky thorns. In the evening there are hundreds of egrets in these trees.
As we left St. Kitts, we passed her Sister island of Nevis.
St. Kitts is even more stunning than the other islands!! WOWZA!! The colors are unbelievable!!
