Volcanoes National Park
As you drive down the "Chain of Craters" road there are a number of crater overlooks. It is actually over 20 miles from the top to the bottom of the road ending at the the Holei Sea Arch. the last time we were here you could drive about another mile down the road to where the 1986 Kalapana Lava Flow destroyed the town of Kalapana.
Perspective picture to show the height of the lava Flow
The shear size of the volcano is staggering
Amazingly nature will find a way to survive even in raw Lava. Here is a Noni Fruit tree. the seeds were probably dropped by a bird. It was covered in fruit.
The Holei Sea Arch
Just loved this as a picture
There are fields of the small wild orchids throughout the park
The Caldera of Kilauea. Not erupting now, but still steaming from the vents.
Quick stop off at the Volcano Winery
