6-6-2020 to 6-10-2020 Seaside, Astoria and Beyond

Moved yesterday from Florence to Seaside, Oregon in pouring rain.  Pleasant trip with minimal traffic, but it is work to drive a motorhome towing a car on a winding mountain road, so was tired by the time we got settled.  Today the sun was shining with some rain on and off.  Cecile's Cousin Janice drove up from the Salem area to visit and catch up.  A wonderful time for us all.

6-8-2020  Cannon Beach. Today was overcast with a few occasional drizzles, but a great day to visit Cannon Beach.  Was great having Janice with us, as she knows the area well.  Strolled through town and visited a few shops.  We did some Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil tasting at the Oil and Vinegar Bar.  We went off the Keto Diet for a binge day and stopped in at Mo's for fish and Clam Chowder, then had an Ice Cream in town.  Back to behaving tomorrow.  Cannon Beach is a quaint seaside town with lots of art galleries and shops.

Astoria and Beyond. Yesterday was a bad day for exploring because of a fairly constant rain, so just a relaxing day.  But today was clear most of the day so, off we went exploring.  First Stop Fort Clatsop, then up to the Astoria Column (this is a fantastic historic site, the column depicts the history of the area from Lewis & Clark to the opening of the area).  We toured the local sites in Astoria, but most were closed for the COVID local policies.  From there we headed across the bridge into Washington.  We visited the lighthouses at Cape Disappointment and North Head and stopped in to check out the Thousand Trails at Long Beach, Washington.  On the way back we stopped at Fort Stevens and saw the mouth of the  Columbia from the other side.  Tomorrow will be another relax day.
