5-15-2020 to 5-21-2020 Thousand Trails San Benito

My first attempt at doing a Blog, so this will be a Learn as you Go.

5-15-2020 to 5-21-2020 Thousand Trails San Benito

5-15-2020 Left Home at 4:30 Am and headed for Thousand Trails San Benito. in Paicines, California (Just south of Hollister).  Following the recommended route on Google Maps and GPS in RV was not the best choice.  The route took us through about 60 miles of very winding roads.  Got in and set up camp and started practicing Social Distancing RV Style.

We also had a visit from some of the locals.

5-16-2020   After arriving at San Benito, we saw that the hose that connects the air brakes on the RV to the braking system in the car has popped off and was dragged on the ground for some miles which destroyed the connector.  We had to go into Morgan Hill to Camping world to find a replacement connector.  When I gave the damaged end to the guy at Camping World, he went to the back room and came out with a whole new hose and said "It's on the House, we just want to get you back on the road safely" , What a surprise.

5-17-2020 Been so long since the nail salons have been closed that Cecile's nails
are starting to pop off, so Cecile has a new Manicurist.  That would be me.

5-19-2020 San Benito is a Great Place for practicing "Social Distancing" .  Other than a few places where there are multiple families travelling together, everyone is leaving at least one empty campsite between rigs.  The poppies are in bloom and the dogs are loving going for walks.

5-20-2020 Dog Grooming day today.  Just relaxing and taking walks with the fury beasts.
Too many stickers, burrs and goat heads here, so had to clean them up.

5-21-2020 A Sunny Day. Weather is sunny and clear and getting a little warm.  on our walk yesterday evening we saw quite a few Quail and the deer were out again.  There are thousands of ground squirrels in this park, so there are many raptor nests in the trees around the park.  We here the owls at night and I saw a very large hawk swoop down and take one of the ground squirrels of the top of a tree stump across from our campsite.  There are beautiful Sycamore trees that obviously were topped at some point, but have regrown.  The trunks have about a 6-8 foot diameter and they are at least 60 feet tall.

Deer

This Sycamore had a very large raptor nest on top of the spot where it was topped before.

Lead Quail

This sycamore was huge.

Before leaving San Benito, we had a visit from one of the locals, a wild boar
